19, 2002 Mumbai -- Mumbai-based television information and
services company Indian Television Dot Com Pvt. Ltd., will
be organizing first-of-its-kind Godrej No 1 Sahyadri
Navratna Puraskar 2002 on April 27, 2002 in Mumbai at
Hotel Juhu Centaur.
Godrej No 1 Sahyadri Navratna Puraskar 2002 are the
first ever awards instituted to recognize nine outstanding
Marathi achievers from different walks of life such as film,
music, theatre, television, sports, social work, business
and media. DD Sahyadri supports these awards.
An esteemed jury panel of industry professionals and experts
helped in short-listing the nominations for the various
categories. The jury included Former India cricket captain
Ajit Wadekar, Filmmaker Amol Palekar, Music
and Art critic Dr. Ashok Ranade, Maharashtra Times
Editor Bharat Kumar Raut, Maharashtra Government
Cultural Secretary Govind Swaroop, Theatre personality
Kamlakar Sontakke, Sabe TV Vice Chairman Markand
Adhikari, IMPPA President and Mukti Foundation President
Smita Thackeray, Film-maker Jabbar Patel and
Film and TV personality Sachin Pilgaonkar.
Godrej No 1 Sahyadri Navratna Puraskar 2002
seeks to recognize excellence in the Marathi community from
the following nine spheres of activity.
Swar Ratna -- For excellence in singing.
Chitra Ratna -- For excellence in cinema.
Ratna Vahini - To recognize outstanding Marathi Television
Channel.
Natya Ratna -- For excellence in Theatre.
Ratna Saurabh -- For Excellence in sports.
Seva Ratna -- To recognize work rendered to the cause
of people.
Ratna Darpan - For outstanding achievement in Media.
Ratna Sharda - To recognize achievements by a woman
in any field.
Vaibhav Ratna - For outstanding achievement in Industry/Business.
The award ceremony will be aired on May 1, 2002 from
3 p.m. to 6 p.m. on DD-Mumbai terrestrial Marathi.

the first cable and satellite TV industry awards which were
launched on July 6, 2001, with sponsorship from Channel
Nine, Sony Entertainment, Star India and Zee TV. The event
was held in The Oberoi Hotel, Mumbai with an attendance
of almost 800 crème de la crème professionals from television,
media and advertising. The Indian Telly Awards 2001 were
aired as a one-hour show on September 9 at 7 p.m. on Star
Plus. The Tellies recognize excellence in Indian television
- on the executive level and in terms of programming. Additionally,
Indian Television Dot Com also runs Qalam -- a scriptwriters'
forum -, which was launched on December 20, 2001 with the
express intent of producing scriptwriters for the television
industry. A two-day seminar-cum-workshop was held on December
20 and 21, with 18 leading Indian scriptwriters and producers
sharing their experiences and also imparting learnings to
110 wannabe scriptwriters. 14 of them were short-listed
and are undergoing six months training in Indiantelevision.com's
office at no cost from leading scriptwriters Vinod Ranganath,
B.M. Vyas, among others.
The goal -- is to produce scriptwriters whose work gets
recognized in the television industry. We have commitments
from television channels and production houses to take up
our scriptwriters. Finally, it also runs Ad-Wise - a TV
Air Time planning buying and selling forum targeted at media,
marketing and TV professionals.
