The inaugural edition of the India Youth Icon Awards, a Wizcraft
initiative in association with Sahara India Media will be presented
at an exclusive ceremony on the 25th of September, 2009 at the Leela
Kempinski, Gurgaon.
A salutation
to the undying spirit of the human endeavor to continuously excel,
the awards aim to recognize & reward individual excellence and
exemplary achievement in the genres of Business, Sports, Entertainment,
Media, Social Welfare and Justice, Science & Technology, The
Arts, Politics and Entertainment, culminating with the Icon of The
Year Award.
Talking
about the association with the Videocon India Youth Icon Awards,
Mr. Pradeep Dhoot, President, Videocon Industries Ltd said, “Videocon

Videocon
India Youth Icon Awards will be a platform to identify and honour
young Indians who can be emulated for their varied contribution
and exemplary merit across various fields, having made a positive
imprint on our society. They are young achievers and can serve as
icons for the youth of our country. These iconic achievers will
be honoured with the “I award”. The “I” symbolizing
Individual,Inspiration, Icon & India.
On
introducing this unique awards property, Mr. Sabbas Joseph, Director,
Wizcraft International shared, “We believe that the Youth will
take us forward into the next century. It is essential that their
Icons be those with determination, courage and aspiration. Instituting
the Videocon India Youth Icon Awards is a step in that direction.
It’s an endeavor to identify and honor such commendable Individuals.
He

of inspiring achievers from different walks of life. They would
help us indentify the nominees for different categories”.
The
nominees will be decided by a panel of illustrious seniors from
different walks of life. On the eminent panel are IPS Officer Dr.
Kiran Bedi, famed journalist Mr. Paranjoy Guha Thakurta, Filmmaker
Shyam Benegal, Tennis Ace Leander Paes, Renowned Cardiologist Dr.
Naresh Trehan, Actor & Social Activist Shabana Azmi, renowned
singer Ms. Usha Uthup, and Chairman - Videocon Industries LimitedMr.
Venugopal Dhoot.
The
winners will then be chosen by the nation, through online voting.
The list of the short listed nominees along with details shall be
announced and uploaded for online voting by the masses. In case
of a tie, the Nominee with more votes from the Advisory Board will
be given preference. The decision of the audit firm Ernst &
Young shall be final in this regard.
The
Videocon India Youth Icon Awards is conceptualized and promoted
