Eminent journalist Omar Qureshi as the latest movie critic on The Zoom Review
Show reviews and gives his informed opinion on the latest Bollywood and
Hollywood releases, on whether the movies are worth a watch or not this Friday,

Chaat is a youth romantic entertainer. Set in Delhi, this Aftab Shivdasani-Aamna
Shariff film promises to bring with it ton loads of entertainment. It also stars
Linda Arsenio (Kabul Express, Mumbai Salsa fame), Kulbhushan Kharbanda,
Sanjay Mishra and Manoj Pahwa in pivotal roles. Firaaq
is a film set over a 24-hour period, one month after a campaign that took place
in Gujarat, India, in 2002. It traces the emotional journey of ordinary people
- some who were victims, some perpetrators and some who chose to watch silently.
As an ensemble film, it follows multiple narratives that are at some times interconnected
and at times discreet, yet all are united by their spatial and emotional context.
Straight
is a film set in the midst of central London, a successful Indian restaurant called
Gaylord run by a Londoner of Indian origin called Pinu. A simple soul
at heart, Pinu has many complexes a special one being that he is a virgin
and has experienced no intimacy with a woman. Barah
Aana is a comedy of real life set in today's Mumbai directed by Raja Menon. The
story revolves around three unlikely friends: a driver (Naseeruddin Shah), a watchman
(Vijay Raaz) and a waiter (Arjun Mathur). Confessions
of a Shopaholic is a film based on a college graduate who lands on a job as a
financial journalist in New York City to support where she nurtures her shopping
addiction and falls for a wealthy entrepreneur. |
