- India's largest private sector enterprise, felicitated and acknowledged
24 Real Heroes of India in a glittering awards ceremony held in
Mumbai today. As the crème de la crème of the nation
applauded, the spotlight was on the country's unsung heroes: men
and women whose selfless deeds have indubitably helped in making
this society a better place. An awards night like no other, the
event truly celebrated the triumph of the human spirit of these
silent warriors of change.
With
their unwavering determination and resolve, these 24 unsung heroes
have worked selflessly for the betterment of their immediate community.
For their selflessness & perseverance, these individuals were
honoured with a trophy and a cash prize of Rs. 5 lakhs each. Ms.
Ela Bhatt, Gandhian and the founder of SEWA, was conferred the Life
time Achievement Award for her contributions in improving the women
from become self-reliant.
Recognizing
and acknowledging the contribution of these individuals, pioneers
from various fields of the society were present at the award ceremony.
The Guests of Honour were Mr. Mukesh Ambani, Mr. Aamir Khan, Mr.
Yash Chopra and Mr. Krish Srikkanth who gave away the trophies along
with Mrs Nita Ambani, the driving force behind this path breaking
initiative. Other eminent personalities from different walks of
life such as Mr. Madhur Bhandarkar and Mr. Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra
from Bollywood, Corporate czars Mr. Deepak Parekh, Mr. Adi Godrej
& Mr. K.V Kamath; Mr. Dhanraj Pillai from sports, Mr. Prahlad
Kakkar, Mr. Alyque Padamsee & Mr. Prasoon Joshi from the advertising
world, eminent scientist Dr. R. A. Mashelkar among many others,
lent their support by attending the event.
The
ceremony opened with music composer Amit Trivedi's soulful songs
that left the audience deeply moved.
The
CNN-IBN editorial team, through its extensive reporter network in
the country, identified these 24 'Real Heroes' across India (6 from
each zone) North, East, West and South whose work can be classified
under one of the following eight categories: Women's Welfare, Social
Welfare, Healthcare, Education & Children, Environment; Rural

Mrs.
Nita Ambani, President, Dhirubhai Ambani Foundation said, Real
Heroes in an initiative to honour the ordinary Indians who have
shown extraordinary courage and determination to make a difference
in other people's life. We are proud to be associated with such
a noble cause. We hope this initiative will encourage many more
people to come forward and work for the welfare of the society
Speaking

have laboured selflessly and have set an example worthy of emulation
