DELHI: Indias Best News Channel and Reliance Industries Limited
Indias largest private sector enterprise, presents
Real Heroes- an annual celebration that felicitates
and recognises the triumph of the human spirit. In its second year,
this initiative honours the real-life heroes in our society who
have worked selflessly to make a difference and serve a cause, in
their own inimitable way, thereby setting a precedence several hundreds
could follow.
Initiated
in 2008 with the aim to acknowledge selfless deeds that inspire
and encourage people to come forward and participate in making our
society a better place, Real Heroes has become a movement that has
focused the nations attention on such unsung warriors of change
and has brought their selfless acts into the public realm
The
CNN-IBN editorial team, through its extensive reporter network in
the country, has identified 24 Real Heroes from across
India (6 from each zone) North, South, East & West whose work
can be classified under one of the following eight categories: Womens
Welfare, Social Welfare, Healthcare, Education & Children, Environment,
Rural Development, Youth and Sports.
A month
long series on CNN-IBN profiles them as part of the editorial stories
and in the weekend showcases all the real heroes from one zone in
a ½ hr special (telecast every Saturday 09.30 pm and repeat
on Sunday, 05.30pm). The three remaining half hour episodes will
be aired on February 28th, March 7th and March 14th respectively.
These
Real Heroes have laboured tirelessly, providing a unique solution
framework for community issues, thereby setting an example worthy
of emulation by the society. For their contributions, all 24 Real
Heroes will be honoured and felicitated at a grand event in Mumbai
with a trophy and a cash prize of Rs.5 lakhs each.
Speaking
on the initiative, Rajdeep Sardesai, Editor-in-Chief, IBN18 Network
said, Real Heroes is a movement that acknowledges and felicitates
those selfless individuals who are working quietly, away from the
arc light. Through the awareness created by this initiative, IBN18
Network hopes to bring forth more such good souls to contribute
extensively in making our society a better place to live.
Ms.
Nita Ambani, President, Dhirubhai Ambani Foundation added, Real
Heroes in an initiative to honour the ordinary Indians who have
