DHL & CNBC-TV18 declared the winners of the 3rd edition of International
Trade Awards powered by ICRA, in Mumbai. The awards are aimed at recognizing
the efforts of businesses whose achievements and practices have contributed in
making India the new World trade hub. The awards were given away by Mr. GK Pillai,
Indias Commerce Secretary. The
global economic slowdown has badly hit several sectors making survival a key concern
for all industry players. Hence companies are now focusing on growth, marketing
innovation, cutting operational costs, managing head counts and doing selective
business with no taking risks.. Against
this background, Managing Growth in turbulent times was the theme adopted for
this years Awards as Indian exporters have shown a remarkable resilience.
Inspite of global recessionary conditions, they have recorded a positive growth
of 3.56% in 2008-09, at a time when most Western countries are experiencing a
de-growth. DHL
& CNBC-TV18 honoured those members of the Indian Exporter Community who have
set new standards in an increasingly competitive industry, consistently delivered
value to their customers and taken brand India to the world. This
years awards were indeed special. As A.B. Ravi, Editor-Special Projects, CNBC-TV18,
pointed out, The international trade sector has been badly hit by the global
crises in the market. Companies need to focus on various internal and external

Trade Awards-Methodology: The
selection was divided into 3 phases with the entire process lasting for a period
of 20 weeks. The methodology to select Indias most deserving exporters was
formulated by rating agency, ICRA. The selection process was as follows: -
Nominations were called in from the trade community
- Qualitative
inputs were taken from short-listed entries
- The
top 3-5 nominees, across categories, were invited to present their case to an
eminent jury consisting of industry leaders, experts and representatives of ICRA
- Sector
wise category had an enterprise winner and sme winner.
