HBO brings for its viewers a tense, heart-rending true life drama "A MIGHTY
HEART", based on the actual experiences of a woman who waits for her husband's
return from an assignment. Directed by Michael Winterbottom, the film is based
on Mariane Pearl's account of the terrifying and unforgettable story of her husband,
Wall Street Journal reporter Danny Pearl's life and subsequent death at the hands
of terrorists. On
January 23, 2002, Mariane Pearl's husband Daniel disappeared while researching
a story on shoe bomber Richard Reid in Karachi. In the face of death, Danny's
spirit of defiance and his belief in the power of journalism led Mariane to write
about his disappearance, the effort to find him and his eventual murder in her
memoir A Mighty Heart: The Brave Life and Death of My Husband Danny Pearl. Six
months pregnant when the ordeal began, she was carrying a son that Danny hoped
to name Adam. A large part of the movie was shot in India where Mariane travels
to trace her husband's journey. She wrote the book to introduce Adam to the father

Daniel Pearl was an American journalist who was kidnapped and murdered in Karachi,
Pakistan. At the time of his kidnapping, Pearl served as the South Asia Bureau
Chief of the Wall Street Journal, stationed in Mumbai, India. British
actress Archie Punjabi plays the role of Asra Q Nomani - an Indian-American Muslim
journalist, author, and feminist, known as an activist in the Muslim reform and
Islamic feminist movements. She is a professor in the practice of journalism at
Georgetown University's School of Continuing Studies, leading the Pearl Project.

actor Will Patton is seen as a Special Agent Randall Bennett in the movie. Indian
television and film actor Irrfan Khan plays the role of Captain CID in the movie.
