Dr. Kamlesh Bajaj has taken over as Chief Executive Officer of Data
Security Council of India and as the head of its security initiatives,
and will be responsible for providing direction to NASSCOMs
ongoing security initiatives and activities.
Dr. Bajaj will be based in the New Delhi office of the DSCI. NASSCOM
had earlier announced the appointment of Shyamal Ghosh as the Chairman
for the DSCI.
DSCI, operating under the aegis of NASSCOM is a self regulatory
initiative in data security and privacy protection. It is envisaged
as a credible and committed body to uphold a high level of data
privacy and security standards.
Dr. Bajaj, who joined DSCI earlier this week said With NASSCOM
and the industrys support, we see DSCI emerging as the most
credible and committed body for upholding an effective data privacy
and security standard in India.
He has over 30 years of experience in various capacities in the
IT industry. His last role before joining NASSCOM was as Global
Head - Information Risk Management and Managed Security Services,
Global Consulting Practice with TCS. He was the Founder Director
of Computer Emergency Response Team (CERT-In), Ministry of Communications
and IT. Dr. Bajaj has been the Deputy Controller of Certifying Authorities,
where he was responsible for establishing techno-legal framework
for public key infrastructure. He has also served as Deputy Director
General, National Informatics Centre (NIC).
Dr. Bajaj began his career as a Software Engineer at CAE Electronics
in Canada . He is a prolific author and speaker, having written
many books and papers and spoken on e-commerce, emerging technologies
and cyber security. He has a Ph.D (Physics) from McMaster University
, Canada , an M.Sc. (Physics) from Dalhousie University , Canada
, an M.Sc. (Physics) from Delhi University and a B.Sc (Hons) also
from Delhi University . He has been awarded the Physical Society
Scholar at Delhi University , Killam Scholar at Dalhousie University
, Canada , Fellowship at Institution of Electronics and Telecommunication
Engineers, India and Fellowship, National Academy of Sciences, India.
