MUMBAI:
With as much as $6 million prize money for a race that last for
a little more than a minute, its not surprising that the Dubai
World Cup is one of the most watched horse race in the world. And
Ten Sports, the most watched sports channel of the sub-continent,
will bring all the excitement, which includes a run by the worlds
top-ranked dirt horse, Curlin, to the Subcontinents connoisseurs
of the King of all Sports.
In
all, the Dubai World Cup night features seven races and offers a
total prize purse of $21 million. The races are expected to showcase
26 Group I winners from 15 different countries and 26 trainers.
Action
will be at a galloping pace, and the three-hour-long live telecast
of one of the biggest social evenings of the Middle East starts
on Saturday, March 29, at 7.00 pm IST on Ten Sports.
Just
the Dubai World Cup will boast of four Group I winners, including
last years Preakness Stakes and Breeders Cup winner
Curlin, who was also named the American Horse of the Year. Also
in the reckoning are Doug ONeil-trained Great Hunter, Japanese
superstar Vermilion and Premium Tap.
But
with 11 Group I winners expected to start, the $5 million Dubai
Duty Free, the fifth race of the evening, is also shaping up to
be a cracker. And the action continues with eight Group I winners
in the fray at the $5 million Dubai Sheema Classic, the sixth race
of the evening. The Duty Free and the Sheema Classic are the two
richest turf races run anywhere in the world.
In
addition to the races, Ten Sports audience will also be able to
witness a live performance by the internationally-renowned musician
Vanessa Mae, who will give her magical violin performance in front
of an expected crowd of 55,000 spectators.
