MUMBAI:
EarthSync, a Chennai based world music record label today announced
their second annual festival scheduled for February 17th 2008 at
Sir Muthu Venkatasubba Rao Concert Hall, Chetpet. This year the
concert will witness over 20 performers celebrating musical and
cultural unity in all its rich diversity. The festival will commence
at 19:00 pm with a spell binding performance by musicians and dancers,
in a truly universal celebration of music and dance.
The
concert spread over two and a half hours will be a musical and visual
journey through spiritual, Indian classical, devotional, middle-eastern,
western and electronic music forms. In addition, there will also
be video art, as well as a stills show of musicians from Asian countries
at the venue. Tickets of denominations Rs 300 / 200 will be available
from February 6th at all leading outlets including Landmark, Odyssey,
Anokhi and EarthSync.
At
the EarthSync Festival, musicians interact with each other beyond
music disciplines and cultural boundaries. Nurturing roots music
the concert will be a fusion of Buddhist chants, folk music, Sufi
shrine singing, Carnatic sounds, traditional instruments and an
electronic mix.
In
December 2006, The EarthSync Festival in Chennai received an overwhelming
response, featuring 25 musicians from different cultures and countries
coming together in a musical celebration.
