2008 and will share their impression and verdicts on their favorite and some of
the best films released in 2008: The Dark Night, Wall E, Kung FU Panda, Edge of
the heaven, Persepolis, caramel, Burn after reading, Juno and Iron man. Ira
and Neha, who both possess a distinctive journalistic approach and critical knowledge
of Hollywood movies, will disclose their reviews, and verdicts on new film and
DVD releases. In addition, they will discuss and debate for the viewers each film's
merits and shortcomings. Neha and Ira will also share views on their picks in
the year 2008 individually, while Neha's best picks of 2008 are Burn after reading,
Juno and Iron man and Ira's best pick of the year 2008 are Persopolis, caramel

Persepolis is an animated film based on Marjane Satrapi's autobiographical graphic
novel of the same name. The film was written and directed by Satrapi with Vincent
Paronnaud. The story follows a young girl as she comes of age against the backdrop
of the Iranian Revolution, which goes horribly wrong with Islamic fundamentalists
taking power and creating a new theocratic tyranny themselves; the story ends
with Marjane as a 21 year old expatriate. The title is a reference to the historic
city of Persepolis. Iron
Man: Tony Stark is the complete playboy who also happens to be an engineering
genius. While in Afghanistan demonstrating a new missile he's captured and wounded.
His captors want him to assemble a missile for them but instead he creates an
armored suit and a means to prevent his death from the shrapnel left in his chest
by the attack. Burn
After Reading: Is a theatrical / comedy movie about a CIA analyst who quits his
job at the agency after being demoted ostensibly because of his drinking problem.
He then decides to write a memoir about his life in the CIA.
WALL E : Is
an animated movie based on a distant future, a small waste collecting robot inadvertently
embarks on a space journey that will ultimately decide the fate of mankind.
Kung
Fu Panda: It is a 2008 American animated comedy film. It was directed by John
Stevenson and Mark Osborne and produced by Melissa Cobb. Set in ancient China,
the plot revolves around a bumbling panda who aspires to be a kung fu master.
The Dark Knight: is a American superhero film directed and co-written
by Christopher Nolan. Based on the DC Comics character Batman, the film is part
of Nolan's Batman film series and a sequel to 2005's Batman Begins. The film follows
Bruce Wayne/Batman (Bale), District Attorney Harvey Dent (Aaron Eckhart), Assistant
D.A. Rachel Dawes (Maggie Gyllenhaal), and Police Commissioner James Gordon (Gary
Oldman) and their struggles and journey in combating the new threat of the Joker
(Heath Ledger).
Edge of the Heaven: is a Turkish-German film written and
directed by Fatih Ak?n. The film won the Prix du scénario at the 2007 Cannes
Film Festival. It was selected for Germany's entry to contest at the 2007 Oscar
but didn't make the selection of five nominated films. Juno: is an American
comedy-drama film directed by Jason Reitman and written by Diablo Cody. Ellen
Page stars as the title character, an independent-minded teenager confronting
an unplanned pregnancy and the subsequent events that put pressures of adult life
onto her.
Caramel : the first feature film by Lebanese director/actress
Nadine Labaki, and it's a Lebanese film .Its a story of five Lebanese women tackling
forbidden love, binding traditions, repressed sexuality, the struggle to accept
the natural process of age, and duty vs. desire. |
