MUMBAI:Timeless heritage met classic vintage. Haig Gold Label,
the oldest scotch distillers and blenders from Scotland, wound back
the clock by bringing together dream machines of a bygone era. The
heritage scotch brand organized the Haig Vintage Rally in association
with VCCCI (Vintage & Classic Car Club of India) and WIAA (Western
India Automobile Association) under the aegis of the FIVA (Federation
of International Le Vehicles Anciens) on April 15, 2007 at Kalaghoda
- Jehangir Art Gallary, Mumbai (Car Park).
The rally was flagged off by the glamorous Amrita Arora, Asif Adil,
Managing Director, Diageo India & South Asia; Vijay Singh
Mohite Patil, Minister of Rural Development and Tourism, Maharashtra.
Also present at the rally were ex-Indian Cricke team captain Mohammad
Azharuddin, Viveik Oberoi and Bhavna Pandey.
Driven
by a rich history of almost 400 years (from 1627), Haig Gold Label,
made by time for the kings and lords, is for those who want to make
everyday occasions special. Today, the Haig brand name is renowned
in more than 50 countries globally.
The rally had attracted 181 entries of some of the best Vintage
(1901 to 1939), Classic (1940 to 1960), Recent Classic (1960 to
1970) cars and motorcycles. Brands like Bentley, Mercedes, Lamborghini,
Range Rover, Porsche, Ferrari, Audi , BMW and other venerable iconic
cars were seen gracing the rally.
The rally was flagged off from Kalaghoda and took the participants
through the citys various landmarks like Mantralaya, Nariman
Point, NCPA (Marine Drive), Worli
Seaface, Bandra Reclaimation, Shivaji Park back to Marine Drive
and finishing at Kalaghoda; passing 2 checkpoints.
Speaking on this historic association, Mr. Asif Adil, Managing

Speaking on the rally, automobile historian Manvender Singh, said,
Haig is bringing the vintage and classic cars in India the
prestige and heritage it deserves.
Along the spectacular route, touching the most famous monuments
of Mumbai, the participants relived the splendors of the erstwhile
Raj and experienced the royal lifestyle. There were around 44 categories
being judged on various parameters (annexure attached) during the
rally. Veteran Motoring enthusiasts and the winners were felicitated
at a gala evening that was hosted at Radio Club.
