| 12th September: Europes top football teams kick
off the UEFA Champions League on Tuesday/ Wednesday and Ten Sports will be broadcasting
the best matches live throughout the duration of the tournament.
Thirty-two
teams have qualified for the group stages of the tournament. In all there are
eight groups, each group is made up of four teams. Each team in
a group will play each other twice on home and away basis with the top two teams
in each group progressing to the second round. Winners of the group
stage proceed to the knock out stage of the tournament, culminating in the Final,
which is scheduled to take place in Athens on 23rd May 2007. Favourites
for the crown are reigning Champions Barcelona with their star-studded line up
that includes World Player of the Year Ronaldinho, Samuel Etoo and Deco.
Barcelona will be on guard, well aware of the potential of other
teams in this competition. One of those teams is Chelsea, who have been drawn
in the same group as Barcelona. The English Premier League Champions have strengthened
their side over the summer, signing some of the big names, most notably Michael
Ballack and Andriy Shevchenko. The other three English sides in
the competition, Manchester United, last years runners-up Arsenal and 2005 Champions
Liverpool all have genuine chances of reaching the final in Athens in May.
Other teams to look out include Real Madrid, AC Milan, Internazionale,
Bayern Munich and Lyon. In total there will be twenty-five match
days and Ten Sports will have live coverage of the best of the action every match
day. Chris McDonald, CEO, Taj Television Limited said: Ten
