Soccer Weekends on ESPN STAR Sports

New Delhi, September 8, 2006: ESPN STAR Sports, Asia’s leading sports broadcaster, will telecast Live and exclusive top soccer action from the English Premier League and the Spanish Football league this weekend. The leading sports network will showcase its proprietary properties Premiership Saturday and Super Sunday showcasing top class action from the world’s best football leagues.

Liverpool gets into action against rivals Everton in the Merseyside Derby on Saturday. Liverpool boss Rafael Benitez has a different kind of a problem in hand; strikers to start with. With Peter Crouch and Dirk Kuyt scoring for their countries mid week and Craig Bellamy showing class against the mighty Brazilians, Benitez will have to figure out the best two of the lot to start against Everton. Liverpool will still be missing Jamie Carragher and John Arne Riise with ankle injuries. Everton on the other side is looking to go further up in the table with a win against old rivals. Though without striker James McFadden, the Toffees will look at posing a tough competition for the Reds.

Also on Saturday, Manchester United will play host to Tottenham Hotspur. Spurs have been boosted by the return of captain Ledley King, who missed the club’s opening three games while recovering from surgery on his knee. Coach Martin Jol confirmed the England international will play against United but the centre-back’s return is tempered by the probable loss of £10.8million striker Dimitar Berbatov. He is almost certain to miss out with a groin strain suffered on international duty with Bulgaria.

In the Primera Liga, defending Champions Barcelona will take on Osasuna. Barcelona will look to bounce back after their less than convincing start to the season. With Ronaldinho back in Barca colour, coach Frank Rijkaard will hoping to things back in order
