Italian Grand Prix LIVE on STAR Sports

New Delhi, September 8, 2006: ESPN STAR Sports, Asia's leading sports broadcaster, will telecast Live and exclusive the Italian Grand >Prix from Monza this weekend. The channel will feature its exclusive
pre race show, Race Day, and post race shows, Chequered Flag, as part of its comprehensive F1 programming for the Indian viewers.

The Scuderia is expected to feature heavily in this weekend's Italian Grand Prix after their promise to reveal their 2007 drivers after the race on Sunday night. Some have taken this to mean that Michael Schumacher will be announcing his retirement over the weekend. In the Constructors' Classification Ferrari is just 2 points off the lead and anything is still possible in the Drivers' with Schumacher trailing Alonso by 12 points.

Many believe the German will only quit racing if he wins the crown this year, so his 2007 plans will probably only be revealed once the title battle is resolved.

Between Schumacher and Ferrari's title hopes stands the defending world champion Fernando Alonso. Alonso's number one goal for the Italian Grand Prix is to finish in front of rival Michael Schumacher and the Ferrari team and win at Monza this weekend. A win at Monza will
definitely put Alonso out of Michael's reach, though every F1 season has its share of surprises and upsets.

The Italian Grand Prix will play a crucial role in the outcome of the driver's championship to say the least.

Monza is the home of the Tifosi and venue for the Italian Grand Prix. Monza has staged more Grand Prix races than any other circuit, having missed only one appearance on the F1 calendar since 1950. The 5.79 Km circuit can spring surprises over 53 laps given its low down force demands, but it is hard to see the battle for victory being anything other than a three-way between Ferrari, Renault and McLaren, with Button in Honda possibly sticking his nose in.
