Sports coverage of the UEFA Champions League continues on Tuesday with action
from the top games. The action gets under way with Manchester United
playing host to Copenhagen at Old Trafford on Tuesday night. The top versus bottom
clash may look to be a formality for United on paper but if they go into the match
with any complacency they could well be in for a big shock. The
Danish side may only have picked up one point from their two matches so far but
both have been tight affairs and they are certainly capable of causing an upset.
United, with a 100% record to date, will be looking for a third straight
victory which would virtually secure qualification to the next round and almost
certainly spell the end of Copenhagens aspirations of reaching the knock
out stages. Following straight after will be delayed coverage of
CSKA Moscows match against Arsenal. The Russian side are just two points
behind their visitors at the top of the table and they know a victory would move
them above Arsenal at the half way stage of the group matches. The
Londoners will be concerned with having several players struggling with injuries
and may well consider a draw a good result in Moscow. Wednesday
night sees one of the most anticipated matches of the group stages when Chelsea
host Barcelona. The two sides have come up against each other in both of the previous
two seasons with honours being shared. Being a group match the outcome is not
vital but Chelsea knows a victory over the current Champions League holders would
mean the Spaniards could find it tricky to qualify. Ten Sports analyst
John Burridge believes the English Champions should just edge the contest: At
home I think Chelsea should be too strong but I think Jose should resist bringing
Ballack back as it may take away the balance of the side. Wednesdays
delayed match sees Bordeaux entertain Liverpool in their Group C fixture with
the French outfit desperate for the victory after only picking up one point to
date. Liverpool will be concerned of their lack of form away from
home and know that a defeat could cause problems with qualification in such a
tight group. 18/10/06 Wednesday 00:00 IST
