2006: IOL Broadband Ltd. has rolled out India's first IPTV service in Mumbai,
with Mahanagar Telephone Nigam Ltd. (MTNL), one of India's major telecom operators.
IOL Broadband Limited has entered into a strategic partnership with MTNL for providing
Content Delivery Network. Since beginning of the year 2006, IPTV services are
gaining tremendous momentum worldwide and this roll out will bring India into
the centre stage to join the group of technically advanced countries and make
available the next generation entertainment service. It is estimated that
already 2 million IPTV connections have been booked worldwide. The Subscriber
base is expected to reach 10 million by year 2007. MTNL will offer IPTV services
to its existing 2.2 million subscribers in Mumbai in the first phase. "This

to consumer demand entertainment. IPTV is going to replace the traditional methods
