| Mumbai, May 05, 2006- Based on the hit nostalgic series
launched in 1979 and created by Merv Griffin, Star World now revives
the beloved variety series "Dance Fever" for a whole new
generation of dance enthusiasts! So put on your dancing shoes and
get ready to rock and roll with "Dance Fever" starting this
Tuesday, May 9th, 2006 at 8 p.m.
Dance Fever is based on the television show of the same name that
originally aired in 1979. This version will try to capitalise on
the success of American Idol and is hosted by Eric Niles. Instead
of searching for the best singers, the mission of this dance competition
is to find out America's best dancers. The ultimate Dance Fever
contestant or team champion will strut away with a $100,000 grand
prize.
Auditions for Dance Fever were held in New York, L.A., Chicago,
Miami, and Atlanta. Of these auditioners, only 48 individuals or
teams will make it past the initial audition process and head to
Las Vegas for their chance at dancing stardom. The Top 48 can consist
of individual dancers, or teams of two-four dancers. Once the elimination
rounds begin in Las Vegas, the contestants will meet host Eric Niles.
The contestants will also face, for the first time, the Dance Fever
judges: actress and singer Carmen Electra ("Baywatch,"
"Starsky & Hutch"); Grammy-winning artist MC Hammer;
and renowned director/choreographer Jamie King, who has worked with
Madonna, Britney Spears and Ricky Martin.
Dance Fever is produced jointly by Merv Griffin Entertainment and
Nash Entertainment with Merv Griffin and Bruce Nash as executive
producers.
Starting May 9th, 2006 only on Star World
Tuesdays at 8 p.m.
Wednesday at 10 a.m.
Saturdays at 7 a.m.
