MUMBAI: 'Kabul Express' has already created waves at a number of
international festivals including the London, Toronto and PUSAN
film festivals. As it gets ready for its India release, four of
India's leading channels, Sony Entertainment Television, MTV, NDTV
24x 7 & 11:30 p.m. - 12:30 a.m on NDTV Profit present the story
behind the making of this internationally acclaimed tale of a unique
journey into post Taliban Afghanistan. 'The Making of Kabul Express'
will be simulcast on the channels this Sunday, 10th December from
7- 8 pm.
Some
of the difficulties that the team faced while shooting in tough
conditions has already been talked about in the media. But now you
can learn first hand from debutant director how he overcame the
peculiar challenges of shooting in the still hostile atmosphere
immediately after the American bombing of Afghanistan.
John Abraham, who essays a role based on the real life experiences
of the director himself, talks about his role - by far one of the
most physically and mentally challenging one of his blossoming career.
Arshad Warsi, one of India's most loved actors today, talks about
how he prepared for the role, and what it was like working with
the multinational and multitalented cast - Salman Shahid the Pakistani
actor, Hanif Hum Ghum the Afghani actor and Linda Arsenal the American
actress.
Also opening up before the camera are the other cast and crew members.
This is the only film that has been completely shot in Afghanistan
post the Taliban regime.
Yash Raj Films has been creating popular blockbusters, and decided
to do something different and challenging and try to make a film
that reaches out to a wider audience, an international audience.
A film that would be Indian in soul but international in its cinematic
language. When this was still in the planning stages, the script
of Kabul Express landed on the desk of Aditya Chopra and the rest
as they say is history.
