Melinda Gordon (Jennifer Love Hewitt) is a young newlywed with the unique ability to communicate with the earthbound spirits of people who have died, and who seek her help. Melinda uses her gift to relay significant messages and important information to the living, but sometimes the messages she receives are intense and confusing. As a result, she is often faced with questions and skepticism by the survivors. But when Melinda is able to help both the lost souls who contact her and those who are still alive, she knows that her unique talent is an asset and not a liability. Melinda Gordon helps those who have passed away find eternal peace by helping them to come to terms with their unresolved issues.

Tune in to the pilot episode, this Tuesday night, in which Melinda is contacted by the spirit of a soldier who says he is lost. Melinda thinks he may not realize that he is dead so she does some research and discovers that he was classified MIA in 1972. However, when she contacts the soldier's son about this father, he thinks Melinda is trying to scam him and now Melinda must find a way to help both father and son find closure.

The show is created by John Gray and stars Jennifer Love Hewitt, Aisha Tyler, and David Conrad. The series is based on the work of James Van Praagh, who is a co-executive producer and is a world-renowned psychic medium. The stories are also said to be based in part on the work of Spirit Communicator Mary Ann Wintkowski.

" Jennifer Love Hewitt first appeared on television a decade ago as Sarah Reeves on the TV series Party of Five

" The stories in the show "Ghost Whisperer" are based in part on the work of Spirit Communicator Mary Ann Wintkowski

" The crew has had weird things happen on the set -- lights have moved on their own across the floor, cameras have stopped working, lights have flickered, things have spilt over on their own in the make-up trailer

" Recently, Jennifer had a spirit haunting her house. She called Mary Ann Winkowski who visited her and expelled the "stalker" ghost as she called it. Apparently it was the "spirit" of one of her high school acquaintances

So don't forget to tune in to the pilot episode of "Ghost Whisperer" this Tuesday, August 29th at 10 p.m. only on Star World and get hooked.
