18th August: Ten Sports continues its comprehensive coverage of
the 2006 MotoGP series when it brings live coverage of round 12
in the Czech Republic this weekend.
Nicky Hayden will head into the race with an impressive 34 point
lead over his main rivals. The American stormed to victory in his
home GP at Laguna Seca in July and will be looking to carry that
form over to the Czech Republic on 20th August.
But he will have to be wary of his closest rivals Dani Pedrosa
and Marco Melandri and of course that man Valentino Rossi who sits
fourth in the championship.
Former Rookie of the Year Hayden, 24, who came third in last year's
championship, has been on the podium in nine out of 11 races so
far this season.
He has only won three races so far in his MotoGP career, two of
those being in his home race at Laguna.
Rossi has won five straight MotoGP titles but it looks as if Hayden,
who has a 51 point advantage over the Italian, has a great chance
of finally ending that run.
The Brno track, where the race will be staged, is a popular one
with all the riders with its fast undulating corners sweeping through
forested hillsides and it always proves a test for both rider and
machine.
The action gets underway this Sunday, 20th August at 1415
1900 IST live on Ten Sports.
