Marriages are made in heaven!!! But the troubles occur only on Earth!!! Mumbai, April 18th-2006…Vashu Bhagnani and David Dhawan who have garnered box office success together with films like Hero No 1, Bade Miyan Chote Miyaan etc. hit a boundary yet again with the blockbuster- Shaadi no 1!

When the King of comedy- David Dhawan churns up a dish –dashed with humor, a bit of filmy masala, a pinch of action & oodles of foot tapping music…the final product is a multi starrer romantic comedy-Shaadi No 1!

Shaadi No 1 involves the lives of three young couples -- Raj (Fardeen Khan) and Bhawna (Ayesha Takia), Aryan (Sharman Joshi) and Sonia (Soha Ali Khan), Veer (Zayed Khan) and Diya (Esha Deol).

Life's not easy for the men, as religion and demanding careers conspire to keep their wives from paying them much attention. They don't have jobs either, which makes things worse. Even as they attempt (and fail) to kill themselves, they come across a suicidal businessman called Kothari (Satish Shah) who needs rescuing. He employs them, they resolve his business hassles, and he tells them about his other nagging problem: three young daughters -- Madhuri (Riya Sen), Rekha (Aarti Chhabria) and Dimple (Sophiya Chaudhary) -- who now live abroad and refuse to accept the idea of arranged marriages

Kothari wants the boys to help by wooing his daughters and then dumping them, in order to prove how fickle love affairs can be. The guys agree, rush off abroad, woo the girls, and then promptly fall in love with them. Now, the girls have followed them back to India, and the men must learn to juggle their time with their wives.

To make things worse, the wives have found a long-lost relation -- Lucky bhaiya (Sanjay Dutt), aka Lakhwinder Singh -- who plays the mandolin, seems to know exactly what's going on and has a storehouse of morals and advice for every occasion. Sort of like a soothsayer, but more heavily built.

Things get complicated. Kothari wants the boys to stop dating his daughters, but they are enjoying themselves too much to care. Lucky tries warning their wives, but they refuse to believe him. Raj, Aryan and Veer are worried about Lucky, so they think of bumping him off. In the meanwhile, the wives and girlfriends have met and become friends, completely ignorant of the fact that they are sharing their lives with the same men. There's more chaos and confusion, but you have to watch the film to find out how Dhawan manages a strange, surprising solution. Shaadi no 1 is packed with Surprises, Masti & Dhamaal.

Some No 1’s about Shaadi No 1

* Shaadi No 1 had a Unique & Different way of promoting its film’s music.

The innovative producer – Vashu Bhagnani wanted all his stars - Fardeen, Ayesha Takia, Zayed, Sharman Joshi and others to travel in a train and go for a darshan to Shirdi.

Says Vashu Bhagnani "I'm bored of the typical music releases and that's why I think of something unique and different each time. So it becomes a talking point."

*Bhagnani and director David Dhawan roped in DJ Aqeel to compose the title track of the film for them. This act of theirs brought along with it the title of music director for DJ Aqeel, as this will be his first music composition. The original music director of Shaadi No.1, however, happens to be Anu Malik

Going by the music launches of his film, Shaadi No1’s premiere was nothing short of an extravaganza.

* Says Vashu Bhagnani: “We made efforts at great lengths to ensure that this premiere was one of a kind! There was tons of flowers' and we decorated the entire road with them. The venue was decorated like a wedding complete with a doli and baraatis! As for the stars, they were dressed like the bride and the groom.” And according to Vashu Bhagnani, “you watch a David Dhawan movie you should think with your heart. David is a good doctor for people who are stressed out. This movie helps you forget your worries gives you a fresh feeling”.

* The movie would have the character Spiderman in it! Apparently Sanjay Dutt was supposed to play the character. But producer of the film Vashu Bhagnani let us in on a little secret! That Zayed Khan is playing the character! And that is all that he told us! Understandably so! For any further details on this character… wait for the movie!

* Fardeen & Zayed Khan featured together for the First time in Shaadi No 1 and they also got married one after the film’s release.

The essence of the triple premiere strategy - to bring the multiplex to the viewers and enable them to enjoy great entertainment at a time of their convenience – has worked like a charm for the channel. Maine Pyaar Kyon Kiya, premiered at three different times on three bouquets of the STAR Network – namely – Star Gold, Star Plus and Star One. And each time it was on air, it reached out to more than 5 million viewers. Reaching out totally to 17.6 million on February 26, Maine Pyar Kyon Kiya, a great commercial blockbuster of 2005 proved that the comedy genre is king. And when pitted against critically acclaimed dramas like Mangal Pandey- The Rising and Parineeta on SET Max; as well as a thriller like Ek Ejnabee on Zee Cinema; all of which were premieres, Maine Pyar Kyon Kiya clearly emerged the winner . Here comes Shaadi No 1 hoping to hit a new high.
