Celebrating Baishakhi, Bhangra can’t be far behind. Doordarshan
will celebrate Baisakhi with a Specail telecast of the biggest Bhangra
Music Concert in the World – World Bhangra Concert.
The World Bhangra Concert’05 featured the biggest Punjabi and
Indi-pop music icons like Daler Mehndi, Stereo Nation, Sukhbir,
Sukhvinder Singh, Baba Sehgal, Annamika, Jassi and Mikka. After
rocking Pakistan and Middle-East earlier this year, it is now set
to be showcased in India on the auspicious eve of Baisakhi. On the
achievement, said Mr. Raman Raheja, Director, BEN, “As we understand
that India have a huge base of Bhangra music lovers, then what better
time to telecast the show, than at the time of Baisakhi, when we
celebrate the occasion with music”.
“We are also in negotiations with Indian TV channels to telecast
the show in US soon besides talking to different TV channels across
the globe for showing it to the South Asian Community in different
countries. This is just one step in our endeavor to reach the Asian
community across the globe.
In fact we aim to make the WBC an annual affair traveling across
the globe with a different city hosting every year.” added
Raheja.
The Show will telecast at the prime time on Doordarshan on Baisakhi,
13th April 2006
The Future of WORLD BHANGRA CONCERT
It will be a brand promoted by Brilliant Entertainment Networks
across the world. With the reach of Television and satellite network,
we plan to reach the Indian community across the globe. Infact the
endeavor will be to make the Indian music reach far and wide to
different parts of the world through a Music Album and Special Videos
and DVDs.
As we move on, we intend to create it as content for Radio Channels
as well. This would be unique as Radio is not conventionally used
to showcase Live Music Concerts.
With other medias like 3G technologies etc, developing fast, Live
concerts and performances will be our key focus for promoting it
