The Role of Media in Scriptwriting

The second day's session started with a media panel discussion on the role of media in scriptwriting. Chaired by Screen editor Bhavana Somaya and Screen TV section editor Piroj Wadia, the talk was peppered with a lively question and answer session on whether journalists make good scriptwriters and the kind of recognition writers ought to get in the media.

Journalists, Wadia pointed out, were uniquely blessed with daily interactions with a variety of personalities who can be effectively used as script characters. In a comment that soothed budding scriptwriters in the audience, Somaya noted that even established writers have to face several hurdles before their work is approved.
