Inside Programming : Aamrapali

On The Sets Of

Aakansha, lead actress

On the experience of playing a complex character

The first thing I did after getting an audition call was see the movie Aamrapali starring Vyjayantimala. That kind of gave me a first hand feel of the character. Once I did that, I read up extensively on the history of the time and the innate characteristics of the

Aakansha

character. I also took up classes in classical dance and worked very hard on my diction. Actually, I feel I have matured both as a person and as an artiste playing this character.

The best part about this character is that it is very complex with several well-manifested shades. Initially, the character is innocently naughty, vivacious and full of life but a dramatic change in circumstances suddenly makes her a mature and hardened adult.

I have not taken up any other role after bagging this, so that I may be able to concentrate solely on it. Shooting for this serial takes 20 days in a month. I would consider myself very lucky to have got a character as challenging as this so early in my career. Though it requires immense hard work, I'm thoroughly enjoying it.
