CHANNEL V TO REFOCUS AS YOUTH CHANNEL

Three months ago Channel V Asia got a new managing director in Steve Smith. Now Smith is beginning to make his presence felt. Alarmed by the loss of viewers, who have bolted to MTV's bolder and funky programming, he is looking at refocusing Channel V as a youth channel. In India, the impact is going to be felt in terms of more music videos; less talk from veejays, more youth oriented game shows, and a greater focus on youth related issues.

The changes are going to become effective and apparent in the next couple of months.
