ANOTHER TAMIL CHANNEL TO DEBUT

The Tamil language satellite television channel segment is to witness another entrant following the relaunch of Vijay TV. As opposed to numero uno Tamil channel Sun TV, the new player has opted for the sobriquet Nila TV (Moon TV in Tamil). The channel's management is in the hands of Rabi Bernard, who once hosted shows on Sun TV, and the introduction date has been set for sometime mid-next month.

Nila TV is to be beamed off a ST-1 transponder. The business plan for the channel envisages an annual investment of Rs 180 million and a breakeven by the thirteenth month. Nila TV will have a mix of shows covering news and current affairs, interviews, series, soaps, movies, social affairs, personalities and chat shows. Two hours every morning and three every evening are to be set aside for serious programming
