MIP ASIA '98: ORGANISERS SAY IT WAS USEFUL

Reed Midem Organisation, the organiser of Mip Asia '98 in Singapore, says that the event served as a remarkably busy platform for useful meetings between program buyers and sellers.

A Reed Midem press release says that in a context of instability in Asia, Mip Asia allowed program suppliers a rare opportunity to assess the economic situation in each territory and prepare new collaborations and deals for the future. Reed Midem television division director Rene Peres says that MIP Asia's purpose is to serve the development of the Asian television industry and offer a unique opportunity to be part of it. "The fifth edition of Mip Asia has been very positive given the current economic context," he says. "It has been very effective in bringing new buyers and exhibitors from new locations." The press release adds that the show saw quite a few deals being struck too. (see briefs)
