SONY GETS MUSICAL ASPIRATIONS

Sony Entertainment Television is eyeing a foray into the music business. SET CEO Kunal Dasgupta told the MTV India Planet M Music Forum that he was looking to air music videos on the entertainment channel. The difference this time he said is that these will be of music which has not been released in audio format in the market place by any company.

Says he: "We have been getting lots of audio samplers from viewers who want to become musicians . We have decided to make music videos of these and air them on our channel. We will air them on the channel and hopefully the fare will attract the record labels and they will sign deals with the artistes."

He added that the company was very keen on nurturing musicians and helping them get a musical break. "We believe there's lots of talent going around. It has to be exploited."
