INDIAN PM DONS I&B MANTLE; NO CHANGE IN POLICY

Prime minister Atal Behari Vajpayee has taken on the responsibility of information & broadcasting (I&B) ministry with I&B minister Sushma Swaraj's appointment as Delhi chief minister. Reports are that Swaraj has not resigned from the Lower House of parliament, as she would like to return to the ministry after the state elections, which she is spearheading, in November. I&B minister of state M.A. Naqvi says the Indian government will continue to follow the broad thrust of the policies laid down by Swaraj. He added that broadcasting regulation would be introduced in Parliament in the coming winter session.

Well Said

I have told them (information & broadcasting ministry officials) to give priority to her (former I&B minister Sushma Swaraj) plans. Our intention is to introduce the broadcasting bill in the Parliament's forthcoming session. Minister of state for information & broadcasting M.A. Naqvi quoted in Mid-Day.
