ZEE TV DROPS AMERICA'S MOST WANTED CLONE; RESTRUCTURES NETWORK OPERATIONS

Zee TV has dropped its America's Most Wanted clone called India's Most Wanted. While the channel maintains that it was a routine discontinuation, others believe that Zee TV's partner Rupert Murdoch's News Corp had insisted that the series be dropped. America's Most Wanted was developed by Murdoch's US TV interests. Zee TV has replaced India's Most Wanted with another show featuring true life crime stories called Agnichakra. It has introduced another five shows in a bid to cash in on the forthcoming festive season in India when advertisers go all out to induce consumers to spend and pump in a lot of money into advertising.

Zee Telefilms is slated to announce its first quarter financial results on 28 July.

Meanwhile, the network has restructured itself promoting senior executives within the company as deputy CEOs; seven of them are to be inducted. Each deputy CEO has been given a portfolio of activities to manage. It has also brought the management of its pay TV digital channel package project under Siticable director Hari Goenka who has been promoted as a deputy CEO.
