TV5 TO LOCALISE NEXT YEAR

French channel TV5 is talking of subtitling its prime-time programming in English by next year. TV5, a digital service, is currently available in a 1.5 million homes in India and the channel's management hopes that sub-titling its programming will help boost its penetration in Indian cable TV homes, says TV5 consultant Jim Hodgetts. TV5 has in the past given away digital receivers free to cable operators to ensure carriage but the absence of English programming has retarded its growth in India.
