ENTREPRENUER PLANS TWO NEW CHANNELS

Mumbai-based Satellite Management Group, a sister company of Satellite & Cable TV magazine, hopes to launch two channels The Comedy Channel and The Movie Channel by January 1999. The company, promoted by Satellite & Cable TV magazine publisher, Sudeep Malhotra, is believed to have signed a memorandum of understanding to lease a transponder on Intelsat 704. The Movie Channel will air Hindi movies for which Malhotra is currently buying up rights. The Comedy Channel will air comedy series and try to promote standup comedy in Indian metros.
