MUMBAI: ZenithOptimedia India has been appointed as media planning and buying partner by Viber, a mobile app company.

The agency which is part of the Publicis Groupe won the business after a competitive multi-agency pitch process which saw five media agencies vying for it in New Delhi.

"We are really excited to partner with a brand like Viber for their India ambition. The brand, and the category, gives us an even better opportunity to demonstrate our 'Live ROI' proposition," said ZenithOptimedia India CEO Satyajit Sen.

Viber India country manager Anubhav Nayyar added, "We partnered with Zenithoptimedia Group as we really liked their thinking and strategic approach to our marketing challenges as well as their excellent track record of helping create new age brands like Micromax and Olx."

ZenithOptimedia, a global media services network, has 250 offices in 74 countries. In India, some of the agency's key clients include Nestle, Micromax, Olx, LVMH, Honda, Toshiba and Telenor.

Viber offers services like call, text, photo/location sharing, to any other Viber user, anywhere, from iPhone and Android phones. Viber's HD voice calls, delivered over 3G or Wi-Fi, offer better sound quality than carrier networks, claims the company. Viber to Viber mobile calls are, and always will be, free, the brand promises.

Viber currently has millions of users across India.
