Sorrell in favour of Sun on Sunday

MUMBAI: Sir Martin Sorrell, CEO of the advertising giant WPP, has backed the possible launch of the Sun on Sunday.


Sorrell believes that the demise of News of the World (NOTW) has left a vacuum in the newspaper market, which can be filled by launching a Sunday version of the weekday tabloid The Sun.



News International disbanded NOTW after the phone-hacking scandal. Since then, speculation has been rife of a possible launch of Sunday version of The Sun -- something News International hasn‘t ruled out yet.


"I‘d like to see a Sun on Sunday come in but they will have to wait...Without News of the World the market doesn‘t have enough competition, enough alternatives, we miss that. That is what my people tell me," Sorrell told Media Guardian.


If News International were to launch The Sun on Sunday, its believed it wouldn‘t be until next year.
