Reshuffle in GEC order, Zee TV climbs back to No.2

MUMBAI: Hindi general entertainment genre has seen some shuffling among the top players in the week ended 2 June. Though, the genre leader Star Plus continues to be on top, the second, third and fourth spot in the GEC space has seen reshuffle.

Zee TV, the flagship Hindi GEC from Zee Entertainment Enterprises (Zeel), has climbed back to No. 2 position in the GEC ladder, while Viacom18‘s Colors takes third position.

As per TAM data (C&S, 4+, HSM), Zee TV added 15 GRPs to register 233 GRPs during the week. Its dancing reality show, ‘DID lil Master 2‘, continues to do well and has clocked 5.03 TVR this week. The dance reality show has been continuously performing since its launch, despite IPL in previous four weeks. Zee TV‘s fiction show ‘Punarvivah‘ is also garnering good numbers and has recorded a 3.11 TVR.

Colors has added 20 GRPs to its last week tally. Its latest fiction show Madhubala opened with a 2.8 TVR on Monday, which was aired for an hour. Balika Vadhu rated 3.57 TVR, while Uttaran, an addition in top 10 shows list clocked 3.18 TVR.

Star Plus added six GRPs in its tally to end the week with 272 GRPs. It‘s ‘Diya Aur Baati Hum‘ with a 5.1 TVR is the most watched show among the Hindi GECs. The channel‘s other fiction properties Saathiya Saath Nibhana (3.73 TVR), Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai (3.70 TVR) and Ek Hazaron Mein Meri Behna Hai (3.55 TVR) continue to be in the ‘top 10 shows‘ list.

Meanwhile, Sony Entertainment Television (Set) slipped to No. 4 in the chart with the loss of 14 GRPs. It‘s the second time in this year that Set has slipped to the No. 4, the first being in week 20 of TAM when Zee TV and Colors took second spot. Set registered 205 GRPs, while its popular singing reality show Indian Idol that kicked-off on 2 June scored a 2.1 TVR.

Sab, the second GEC from Sony, maintained its position with the addition of six GRPs to end the week with 121 GRPs. Life OK too maintained its status quo with loss of a GRP to clock 112 GRPs.

Sahara One with 42 GRPs remains at the bottom of the ladder.
