Colors outsources US ad sales to ex-Zee hand Kapuria

MUMBAI: Aapka Colors, the recently launched US version of the Viacom18‘s Hindi general entertainment channel (GEC) Colors, has appointed Dheeraj Kapuria‘s World Media Connect (WMC) to manage its advertising sales business in the US.

Kapuria is the founder and CEO of WMC. He was earlier with Zee Entertainment Enterprises as head of Zee‘s international business and Zee Turner Distribution. He was also instrumental in establishing the business for Zee channels in the US. Viacom18 has also appointed Nikhil Shukla as head of marketing for the US.
Viacom18 chief commercial officer and head - international business Gaurav Gandhi said, ‘‘After a successful launch of the channel, we are now focusing on building a strong advertising sales revenue stream for our US business."

Aapka Colors is on Dish Network and is available on channel No 651. It is a part of the Hindi Mega Pack, which currently offers 16 other premium Hindi channels and the Hindi Super Pack. The channel is also available as an ‘Any two’ option, where the subscribers can choose any of the other Hindi GEC along with Aapka Colors. 
"We want to leverage the knowledge and experience of Kapuria and the WMC team in the US television market. Our aim is to be among the top three Hindi TV stations in the US in ad sales within 12-18 months," Gandhi told

Aapka Colors was launched in January this year to offer entertainment to the widespread South Asian community residing in the US through movies, fiction, reality and game shows.
