Colors narrows gap with Star Plus on back of Golmaal 3

MUMBAI: The power of television premiere of big movies has once again helped Colors ramp up ratings as it narrowed the gap with Hindi GEC (general entertainment channels) market leader Star Plus.

Colors, which premiered the Rohit Shetty-directed Golmaal 3 on 13 February, garnered a TVR of 5.03 as the channel reached 283 GRPs (gross rating points) for the week ended 19 February. In the prior week, the channel had garnered 238 GRPs.

Colors has also narrowed the gap with Star Plus which shed 19 GRPs to close the week with 299 GRPs.

A fall in the ratings of its weekend programming resulted in Star Plus’ drop. Analysts said the fall was mainly on account of the Sunday telecast of Golmaal 3 on Colors and the India Vs Bangladesh Cricket World Cup opening match on Saturday (19 February).

Meanwhile, Zee TV lost nine GRPs to end the week with 210 GRPs, while Sony Entertainment Television (Set) saw a big fall. The channel lost 37 GRPs to close the week with 143 GRPs.

Sab lost 19 GRPs but maintained its ranking with 134 GRPs. Imagine TV further shed 11 GRPs to close with 75 GRPs.
