MUMBAI: Google said it would axe 200 jobs in sales and marketing, half of which would be out of North America.

"In some areas we've created overlapping organizations which not only duplicate effort but also complicate the decision-making process. That makes our teams less effective and efficient than they should be. Additionally, we over-invested in some areas in preparation for the growth trends we were experiencing," says Google SVP sales and business development Omid Kordestani, in his blog post.

In January, Google had a job cut of 100 and in February it had asked 40 people to leave after the search giant shut its radio-ad sales business.
