NEW
DELHI: NBC Universal is set to rebrand its Sci Fi Channel as Syfy on 7 July in
the US.
The
rebranded channel will have the new tagline ‘Imagine greater’.
According to the
company, the new spelling will allow NBC to have an ownable trademark that it
hopes will gain greater recognition among consumers across new-media and non-linear
digital platforms.
Meanwhile, NBC
president - global networks and digital initiatives Roma Khanna will lead the
rebranding process in UK. The Sci Fi channel is presently available on Sky, Virgin
Media and Tiscali in UK.
The
rebranding process in the US will be followed by other markets in the third quarter
of 2009, the company states.
