MUMBAI: Media communications company Mediaedge:cia (MEC) has roped in Hariharan Vishwanath as its national trading director.

Vishwanath will be reporting to both GroupM head trading Prasanth Kumar and MEC India MD T Gangadhar.

Prior to this appointment, Vishwanath was Maxus (Bangalore) GM.

Vishwanath's designation is a newly-created one at Group M. From now, all individual trading heads of the various agencies under GroupM will report to Kumar and Gangadhar.

"Given the present business environment, the importance of trading cannot be emphasised enough. Trading has been identified as one of the greatest variables for us to turn to our advantage and create real, tangible value to our clients. As MEC's Trading Head, Vishwanath will be responsible for exploiting the GroupM leverage to its fullest extent on behalf of our client partners," says Gangadhar.

Being in the communications industry for 15 years, Vishwanath has hands-on experience across media planning. However, this is his first stint in media buying.
