MUMBAI: DLF Ltd said on Wednesday it would remain title sponsor of the Indian Premier Leagur (IPL), putting to rest rumours that the real estate major may walk out of it amid a global economic recession.

DLF, which had bagged the title sponsorship rights of the IPL for five years in 2008, said the second edition of the event in April-May this year would be better and bigger.

“Our commitment towards the DLF Indian Premier League remains resolute and long term, given the immense synergies involved. We will continue to support the League that has ushered in a unique new era of cricket and entertainment for a global audience," said DLF group executive director Rajeev Talwar.

he Indian Premier League has already carved out a distinct niche for itself in the international cricketing calendar, said IPL chairman and commissioner Lalit Modi. "I am happy that India’s largest real estate company, DLF will continue to play an integral part in helping develop the league into a truly world – class platform for showcasing and developing cricketing talent globally. I look forward to the start of Season II in April 2009.”

Reports state that DLF is restructuring its business verticals through a major human resource redeployment to boost efficiency and productivity. Reports also indicated that a bear cartel has been working overtime to bring down the company's stock price.

DLF has five business verticals: home, commercial, retail, infrastructure and hospitality.
