MUMBAI: Channel [V], the music channel from Star India, has licensed its characters ‘Simpoo Singh’ and ‘Lola Kutty’ to Random Magazine for publication.

These characters would be seen in the print version of Random. The magazine launched in June 2008.

Channel [V] VP, creative director Sheetal Sudhir said, “Both of our icons, Simpoo and Lola Kutty, have had unprecedented fan following whether on television, calendar or notebooks. This is yet another step to interact with our viewers through a magazine on a monthly basis. We are sure that readers will find them as lovable and whacky as on television and would enjoy reading them month after month.”

SS Sodhi a.k.a. Simpoo, Channel [V]’s humour icon will open his classroom in Random magazine from this month through a series of columns that feature his best known qualities and his favorite students. Helping Simpoo Sir will be Channel [V]’s Lola Kutty.

Speaking on the license association Star India SVP (licensing) Nanette D’sa added, “Over the last many years, Channel [V] has developed a great franchise of characters that are unique and iconic to the youth. These characters resonate a combination of wit and creativity and that’s what encouraged us to look at a possibility of licensing them to a magazine where they make humorous reading. Besides the monthly columns, soon Lola Kutty and Simpoo will be available in the form of books as well.”

Random Magazine publisher and editor Jatin Varma said, “Through this relationship with Channel [V], we are looking at bringing in a lot of value for our readers.”
