GM unveils Spark Muzic special edition

BANGALORE: General Motors India (GM) has unveiled the Spark Muzic special edition, Captiva Automatic+. The car comes with additional features as compared to the existing model of the Chevrolet Spark available in India.

With an intent to attract youth between 25 and 30 years of age, Chevrolet has a 2-DIN audio head unit with hi-fidelity 4-speaker system, sports seat fabric and remote keyless entry in the interior of the car. The exterior of the car has side body graphics.

GM intends to manufacture only 2500 units of the Spark Muzic in India, according to GM India vice president P Balendran.

An animated ad campaign to promote Spark is already on air. "In the current scenario, all automobile manufacturers have brought down ad campaign spends as compared to last year by up to 50 per cent," said Balendran.

"Special and limited editions are launched to keep a brand from stagnating, to keep the interest in the brand alive," said Balendran. "We saw good growth in the sales volumes of the Spark last year. Only capacity constraints kept us from selling more cars. With the new plant at Lonavala on stream, we are confident of replicating our last year's growth in a market that is either flat or shrinking, given the current market meltdown," he added.
