DELHI: BBC has appointed Sharon Baylay as director-Marketing, Communications and
Audiences Division.
Prior
to this, Baylay was general manager-online services divisions Microsoft.
Says BBC director-general
Mark Thompson, ""The BBC's relationship with our audience has never
been more important than it is today. Sharon's passion, energy and leadership
will help ensure the BBC keeps the needs and views of our audiences at the forefront
of everything we do. Her experience of relating to audiences in different environments
will be especially valuable."
Baylay will join
the executive board in May and will fill the desk left vacant by Tim Davie last
July, since his promotion as director BBC audio and music.
Bayley
will lead a team of more than 400 staff and will be responsible for marketing,
communications, audience research and services.
