MUMBAI: Retail major Future Group is set to acquire a 60 per cent stake in the advertising firm Dhar & Hoon.

An official agreement for acquisition of the stake will be filed in the coming week by Future Brand CEO Santosh Desai. The new alliance will be named as D&H Blurb Communications.

"Acquiring an ad agency is just a part of our brand consulting and it's not a new area for us," says Desai. "It will provide branding services to our business partners and companies."

Dhar & Hoon was founded in 1994 by former Mudra executive Ajit Hoon and JWT creative director Abhinav Dhar.

Interestingly, Kishore Biyani-owned Future Group was among the first clients of Dhar & Hoon. The ad agency also partnered with the retail major and launched John Miller, the shirt brand.

Future Brands India, a subsidiary of Future Group, creates brands that address the aspirations of the new Indian consumer.
