NEW DELHI: American beverage company Coca-Cola has bought a minority stake in Innocent, the British fruit and smoothie drinks maker brand, for $44 million.

The move is part of Innocent's strategic decision to expand its foothold in Europe.

Said Innocent co-founder Richard Reed, "We chose Coca-Cola as an investor because along with providing us with funds, they can help us get our products out to more people in more places.”

UK-based Innocent presently operates in 13 European countries.
