Samsung launches LED TVs in India

NEW DELHI: Samsung India has launched a new range of flat TV under the LED TV brand.

The consumer durable company expects the new range to constitute 10 per cent volumes of the total flat panel TV market.

Says Samsung India deputy managing director R Zutshi. “We are expecting our LED TV volumes to be 10 per cent of our Flat Panel TV volumes this year.”

The company has introduced three variants of LED TV – 6, 7 and 8 in the Indian market. While series 6 and 7 have been launched in 40-inch and 46-inch screen sizes, series 8 will be available in 55-inch screen size in May.

In the series 6 LED TV, the 40-inch screen is priced at Rs 1, 25,000 while the 46-inch costs Rs 1,50,000. For the series 7 LED TVs, the 40-inch screen is available at Rs 1,40,000 and 46-inch screen is priced at Rs 1,80,000.

And the series 8 LED TV which has 55-inch screen will be made available at Rs 3,50,000.

“Based on the introduction of our new advanced 2009 Flat Panel TV lineup , our channel expansion and our innovative marketing campaigns , we expect to double our Flat Panel TV volumes this year,” adds Zutshi.
