MUMBAI:
Indian Premier League (IPL) franchisee Chennai Super Kings on Monday launched
their fan club "Kings Club" in Chennai. The move is seen as a brand-building
exercise to attract committed loyalty from the team's supporters.
The club will offer
incentives to its members by way of subsidised tickets for IPL home matches, merchandise
endorsed by the players, and other schemes such as personalised interaction, including
exclusive photo sessions, with the players.
India Cements (owner
of the franchise) executive president TS Raghupathy said in a press meet in Chennai
that the inaugural IPL was a tremendous success and the fact that Super Kings
reached the final added to the popularity of the team. He added that by launching
the Kings Club, they would like to offer the fans an opportunity to be a part
of an exclusive community.
The
Chennai Super Kings franchisee had earlier tied up with Peter England for launching
a Chennai Superkings formal wear collection and with cup manufacturer Hot Muggs
to launch CSK cups, beer mugs, batches and the like.
