HCL
plans to continue its current brand building
campaign and commence a new campaign for
its Leaptop 'Distinctly Indian' range of
laptops, according to HCL executive vice
president marketing George Paul.
The new offerings will be available through
HCL's 73 Digilife stores and 3000 multi-brand
retail outlets. The company is looking to
be the largest laptop player in India over
the next eighteen months and take its present
market share of 7.4 percent of the 1.7 million
laptop market in India to double digits.
It plans to do this by offering products
specifically meant for India, by providing
bundled offers with companies such as Reliance
Communications, BSNL and Airtel and by co-branding.
It also plans to increase the number of
company owned and franchisee Digilife stores
to 150 over the next 18 months. Some of
the new stores will open in tier-2 and tier-3
cities according to Paul.
